(NYDAILY NEWS) – A woman killed herself hours after her boyfriend was fatally struck by a car in Australia on Saturday, her family said.
Alice Robinson was found dead after her boyfriend, rugby player Jason Francis, was hit by a car around 8 p.m. in Scarborough, according to WA Today.
Robinson’s mother wrote that her daughter was “so distraught she could not bear to live without her beloved Jase and chose to take her own life,” the paper reported.
“These are two beautiful souls that we have lost far too early, and were loved like family,” Sam Diamond, the club’s president, wrote. “CRUFC extends our deepest sympathies and condolences to the Francis and Robinson families back in the UK.”
Diamond remembered Robinson for “her infectious laugh” that “filled our hearts.”
The post did not mention how she died, however it did include a number for a suicide prevention line.
Francis, 29, was reportedly returning home to Robinson Saturday night when a pizza delivery car struck him.
He was rushed to the hospital, but did not survive. Friends became worried about Robinson after she left the hospital and they could no longer reach her, according to WA Times.
The 18-year-old driver called the police after the accident, the paper reported. Cops believe he did not see Francis until it was too late, however they are still investigating the fatal crash.
A GoFundMe page was set up to help cover the costs of sending their bodies back to the United Kingdom, where their families live.
