(NY DAILY NEWS) – A 10-year-old Wisconsin girl charged with killing a 6-month-old baby by stomping on his head is being tried as an adult.
The young suspect sobbed through her hearing in Chippewa County Court on Monday, where a judge ordered she be held on $50,000 cash bond, the Grand Forks Herald reported. She was charged with first-degree intentional homicide by someone age 10 or older.
Wisconsin law requires the case — at least initially — be held in adult court, though it can later be transferred into juvenile court, said Chippewa County District Attorney Wade Newell.
“She has to be treated as an adult,” he said.
