White House receives letter from 9/11 mastermind

(NYDAILY) President Obama has received a letter from the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, according to a report.

A White House source confirmed to the Miami Herald that the letter written in 2014 had been received, but did not comment on whether the President had read it.

The terrorist’s lawyer, David Nevin, told the newspaper two years ago that the letter talks about “Muslim oppression at the hands of the West in general and the United States in particular” as well as other opinions about Middle East.

Officials at Guantanamo Bay, where the al Qaeda member has been held since 2006, originally declined to send the letter before being forced to by a military court.

The judge also ordered that the letter be posted at least in part on a military court website, where it has not yet appeared.

Mohammed confessed to planning 9/11, as well as other terrorist attacks including the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and the beheading of reporter Daniel Pearl, according to documents released by the Pentagon.

He currently faces the death penalty in the military court after an aborted plan by the Obama Administration to try him in a Manhattan federal court.

The Senate’s CIA torture report revealed that Mohammed had been waterboarded dozens of times at covert bases after his capture in 2003, as well as other treatment including “rectal rehydration.”
