A nine-months-pregnant Chicago teen was found strangled to death with her unborn child carved out of her womb — and she may have been lured to her death by a woman she met on a Facebook group for young moms, according to police and reports.
The decomposed body of 19-year-old Marlen Ochoa-Lopez – who had been missing for the last three weeks – was found dumped in a garbage can just after midnight Wednesday in the backyard of the unidentified woman’s home on the city’s Southwest Side.
The teen victim’s baby boy, who was “forcibly removed” from Ochoa-Lopez’s body after her death, had been taken to an area hospital on April 23 – the day Ochoa-Lopez vanished and “before [police] figured out what was going on,” a Chicago police official told The Post Thursday.
The victim’s family say a 46-year-old suspect had enticed Ochoa-Lopez to come to her home by offering the young woman free extra baby clothes for her unborn son via the Facebook group “Help A Sista Out,” according to local reports.
“She was giving clothes away, supposedly under the pretense that her daughters had been given clothes and they had all these extra boy clothes,” said Cecelia Garcia, a spokeswoman for the victim’s family said.
Screenshots obtained by CBS Chicago show Ochoa-Lopez posted a message to the group before her disappearance, and user replied: “I’m on the southside of Chicago by 79th and Pulaski if you want to wait a week my girl has all brand New boy clothes her son never wore.”
