New Zealand welcomes 2019 with a bang!

STANDARD UK- New Zealand has become one of the first countries to ring in the New Year.

Although Brits have hours to wait until festivities and parties begin, New Zealand was among the first to celebrate the arrival of 2019 at about 11am UK time.

Revellers celebrated in New Zealand shortly after Samoa saw in the New Year, at about 10am local time.

Stunning firework displays welcomed in the New Year in New Zealand, as Auckland’s Sky Tower put on a huge show.

Those celebrating the New Year also gathered at Wondergarden Festival, at Silo Park.

The island nation of Samoa had a huge party to kick off the new year.

At about midnight, the Government of Samoa posted on Facebook for its citizens, writing: “Samoa welcomes the New Year in style”.

New Year celebration also kicked off in Australia, as fireworks exploded over the Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House.
