Correction officer caught smuggling marijuana into NYC jail

A veteran city correction officer was busted by a drug-detecting dog as he tried to smuggle marijuana into a jail, authorities said Sunday.

Christian Mizell, 48, of Jamaica, Queens, was nabbed by the front gate of the Manhattan Detention Complex on Saturday morning, court records show.

He was caught with “three large bundles” that contained 6 ounces of marijuana, prosecutors said. Mizell, who joined the department in November 2005, earned $114,145 last year.

The drugs were going to be sold for $6,000 in the facility, according to the criminal complaint.At his arraignment, Judge Abena Darkeh let him go with supervised release.
