The Embassy of Brazil has the pleasure to announce the release of the report “Brazil reaffirms protagonism in environmental management”, published in September 2018.
Due to the expansion and creation of 14 areas, Brazil has increased protected areas by over 100% from May 2016 to June 2018.
Today, there are 335 federal conservation units in the country´s five regions, totaling more than 167 million hectares.
The government prioritized the strengthening of extractive reserves to boost the valorization of the standing forest.
Moreover, the reduction in the emission of greenhouse gases (GHG) was approximately 2.6 billion tons of CO2, in the last two years.
