NY DAILY NEWS – Police in eastern Pennsylvania are searching for a person who shot an 11-year-old girl in the face after she answered the door to her home Wednesday night.
The child was taken to the hospital with “significant facial trauma,” but she’s expected to survive, authorities said.
Police believe the incident was not random, but they said the girl was “likely not the intended target.”
The horrific shooting happened just before midnight in Bethlehem, a city just outside Allentown.
“Although we are asking Bethlehem residents to be extra vigilant and to report any suspicious sightings, we do not believe there is any increased danger to the public at large,” the city’s police department said in a news release.
The suspect was described as “possibly male” and may have been wearing a face covering.
No additional information was available Thursday.
