Strangulation was the cause of death for 84-year-old farmer Lida Lewis, according to a post-mortem examination conducted on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. Ms. Lewis was originally discovered motionless in the Peruvian Vale area on Thursday, July 2, 2026, after the Royal Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force responded to a report requesting assistance.
The Major Crime Unit has taken charge of the investigation and is appealing directly to members of the public for any information that could help establish the circumstances of her death.
Investigators are interested in hearing from anyone who noticed unusual movements or heard anything out of the ordinary in the Peruvian Vale area before the body was discovered.
Police noted that even details that seemed ordinary or unimportant at the time could be significant when considered alongside other evidence.
Authorities are urging the public not to assume that someone else has already reported relevant information. To protect the integrity of the investigation, the police are asking individuals to communicate what they personally saw or heard directly to them rather than circulating unverified claims or public speculation.
Anyone who can assist is asked to contact the Major Crime Unit at 456-1810, Police Control at 457-1211, or emergency services at 999 or 911. Information can also be provided at the nearest police station.
The police have stated that all information received will be treated confidentially and that measures are available to protect those who provide assistance where necessary
