What state, will our economy be in, in the year 2020? Will the economy be spiralling out of control like that of Venezuela? That country’s economy continues to spiral out of control, with severe food and medicine shortages and a 1.35 million percent inflation rate, according to the latest from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). No wonder Venezuelans are departing their country in droves.

Who can survive in a country where the inflation rate is 1.35 million percent? But this is how the red shirts destroy economies and cause severe hardships, with their foolish outdated pseudo dogmas of Karl Marxian policies.

In Venezuela basic necessities have become astronomically expensive and Venezuelans are struggling to make ends meet. Will this be our lot in the year 2020 and beyond too if we continue to put up with Ralph Gonsalves and his red shirted mob?

We here will be invited to vote with our fingers in 2020 but for the Venezuelans, many have already voted with their feet, jettisoning their once prized red shirts in the dust bins, with at least 2.3 million families fleeing the crises since 2015, according to the United Nations. Who here will be following the Venezuelans and be dashing their red apparels in the waste bins?

How will our neighbours the Barbadians, the Trinidadians, the Jamaicans and those other countries further afield take us? These countries where we love to go, will they cope with our exodus?

The mass-migration of Venezuelans has led to a humanitarian crisis in the region as Venezuela’s neighbours and other countries like Columbia and Peru, are struggling to cope with the influx of migrants and refugees, yet all this mess is what was always to be expected when the Redshirts run any economy.

The British says that thy too had experienced the same when their labour Party had ran their economy.

For Ralph Gonsalves’s friend Maduro, it is business as usual however, and Ralph will continue with his support for the man, despite the Venezuelan people’s sufferings.

Regional criticism of Maduro has grown in recent years amid anti-government protests over the economic crisis but for his friend Ralph Gonsalves, such is simply all part of the course.

With the sufferings of the Venezuelan people reaching such an alarming pitch, Peru had said it would ask the 12 members of the pro-democracy Lima Group, which includes several Latin American and Caribbean countries along with Canada, to break relations with Venezuela from January 10, when Maduro takes office for his second term.

Such a request they hope may bring Ralph Gonsalves friend Maduro, to his senses.

However such a request by Peru is unlikely to have any impact on Maduro, as these red shirts all have one thing in common, and that is, to hold on to power until the bitter end.

We have seen it with Fidel Castro, in Maduro’s predecessor Chavez and now also in Ralph Gonsalves. Will the Venezuelan experience have a sobering effect on Vincentians? Only time will tell! Let us wait and see.

Like Venezuela will there be more allegations of vote rigging and Court theatrics? Let’s wait and see.

  1. Well Vincy in New York you said that “everyone is entitled to her/his viewpoints” provided that is, it is the same viewpoint as yours and should not expressed be here eh especially if different to yours?

You said that you “expected some interesting and well-articulated viewpoints, analyses and economic projections on the state of the Vincentian economy in 2020” but dear Vincy does not such an expectation presume that the Vincentian economy will depart from that which we have experienced over the past two decades my dear Vincy in New York?

Again you further said that you expected to find above “What fiscal policies, if implemented, will take the economy forward? Conversely, what are the current fiscal and economic measures, deemed irresponsible, will slow economic activities in the year 2020?” Yet if you read carefully what is expected for us is for the ruling RED SHIRTED regime to unhinge themselves from their Karl Marxian dogmas and ideology.

It is there stated clearly that “The Venezuelan experience therefore, is just the latest example of the failure and sufferings being forced upon a population, with SVG in tow, by the redshirted gang of misguided ideologists.” But you, for your part, do not wish to read of such sentiments.

It is also there stated that by following in the footsteps of Venezuela with such Karl Marxian dogmas, “this is how the red shirts destroy economies and cause severe hardships, with their foolish outdated pseudo dogmas of Karl Marxian policies.” However such sentiments would never satisfy you, as it does not fit in with your own ideology.

Small and Medium size enterprises in an economy, are very often the powerhouse to growth in all well organised economic strategy. They are the growth sectors of all growing economies, yet the dogmas and policies of SVG and all economies organised around the ideology of Karl Marxian model and doctrines seeks to eliminate such, in favour of big government. No doubt the same have caused you to seek your own fortunes not in SVG, but in New York.

The article made note of the sad reality of the “redshirted folly” in state recklessness and idiocy, when it note there the fact that “The British says that thy too had experienced the same when their labour Party had ran their economy.” For each time their redshirted idealist took up office there, in the form of a Labour Government, the results have always been the same, a bankrupted state, together with an increase in their unemployment rate.

Hence the reason why our country is contrasted with Venezuela and its Government is quite plainly as stated, “our ruling Gonsalves family and those holding political power here Gus, models themselves on both the men and failed ideologies of both Cuba and Venezuela and as such, the inevitable outcomes would indeed be most predictable, as night follows day. Ruin and beggary as being experienced in this resources rich country”!

Therefore, were we to have, less crippling taxation, leading to less Government and a more business friendly environment in SVG, where home grown SME’s can find root to grow and create employment perhaps you yourself may then wish to come back home for your own employment our, Vincy in New York.

    • James H, your reply to my comments contains more info than your actual article.

You got an opportunity and privilege to inform readers of the probable state of the Vincentian economy in 2020 and failed to provide any ideas as to why the economy will not grow. Instead, you focused on Cuba, Venezuela and Karl Marx and ranted on and on.

Contrary to what you claimed, the IMF report stated that the economy will grow in the next two years and provided ample reasons for the proposed growth. Here you are with doom and gloom with no solid point whatever to back your claims.

James H, your writings are reaching many readers. Please take time to develop your viewpoints and stop wasting my time.
