SVG’s GYMNASTICS LEAVES A MARK IN THE BIG APPLE

St. Vincent and the Grenadines Gymnastics team has left a big mark in the Manhattan Classic 2020 Gymnastics Competition!

The Manhattan Classic Competition took place at Pier 94 in Manhattan, NY, January 24-25. Team SVG was comprised of Ariel Fraser, Chiamaka Jackson, Myracle Doyle, Azaria Lewis, Leanna Bailey, Shamara Pereira, Katriel Bailey, Head Coaches LaPrise and Kerry Williams, and several parents.

Head coach LaPrise Williams stated,“ The competition was very tough and we held our own. This tournament was a real eye opener for our athletes. I was pleased to see that with more training all of our girls will easily make the podium. Traveling out of the country is essential to SVG gymnastics moving forward. Overall, both Kerry and I are very proud of our girls.”

With a total of 3700 athletes competing this weekend, team SVG gave it their all in each event (Beam, Floor, Uneven Bars and Vault) and walked away with the Most spirited award”.

: 1stPlace on Vault, Bars, and Beam- 1st place all around

: 3rd place on vault, beam and floor -4 place all around

: 3rd on beam, 3rd on floor -7 all around

: 3rd on beam, 5th on floor- 7th all around

: 6th place vault, 3rd beam and 5th floor- 8th all around

: 7th place Floor

The team is now in preparation for Dolphin Gymnastics and Health Academy’s flagship event, Coconut Classic Gymnastics Competition, which will take place at the Old Mustique Hangar in Arnos Vale, located behind the Technical College, February 21-22.
