While detectives at the Major Crime Unit at the Criminal Investigation Department continues to investigate a spate of homicide here they were able to quickly arrest and charge 20 year old Joel King of Layou for the offense of causing the death of 33 years old Billy Adams of the same address following a shooting incident which is said to have occurred at Layou on Friday July 27th, 2018.
The report indicates that on the date in question Adams succumbed to several gun-shot wounds to his body while he was hanging out with friends at a shop in Layou.
Recently a male resident of Layou was given a 20-year jail term on a charge of attempted murder upon Adams who was a key in an indictable case that is up for hearing.
King as a result of the charge was escorted to the Kingstown Magistrate Court on Monday, July 3oth, facing the indictable charge before Senor Magistrate Rickie Burnett to which he was not allowed to enter a plea.
Senior Prosecutor Delpesche made an application that the matter be adjourned and transferred to the Serious Offences Court on Thursday August 2nd, 2018 to have Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne set a date for a Preliminary Inquiry.
Some 14 witnesses are expected to present testimonies on behalf of the Prosecution.
This country has chalked up some homicide so far for the year.
