SVG Met Office: NO HEAT WAVE ADVISORY FOR ST. VINCENT

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Meteorological Services is alerting the general public that a message being circulated via ‘WhatsApp Messenger’ and other social media purporting an impending heat wave is NOT an authentic message.

There is currently NO heat wave advisory for St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Daily maximum temperatures of 30-31°C are forecast across St. Vincent and the Grenadines for today and over the weekend, which is normal during this time of the year.

Daily maximum temperatures of 40°C are NOT expected as is being falsely circulated.

The Meteorological Services is urging the public to desist from forwarding and spreading such false information as it may cause unnecessary alarm.

Additionally, all advisories issued by our office always carry the official letterhead, date, time and the name of the Meteorological Forecaster who is disseminating the information. These advisories are also widely shared via media houses and through the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO).
