The Caribbean’s most prestigious youth tournament will be held in St Vincent and the Grenadines from July 31 to August 30.
St Vincent will play host after the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) pulled stumps on hosting this year’s Regional Under-19 Tournament.
In explaining the decision, president Conde Riley revealed that despite the grant of $1.2 million from Cricket West Indies (CWI) to cover expenses, there would’ve still been a deficit of $400 000 in the BCA’s tournament budget.
Riley said; “We couldn’t put on the tournament for what we were offered by Cricket West Indies and the BCA board took a conscious decision that we couldn’t absorb another loss”.
He said the association will focus on youth cricket development and the infrastructural development of our clubs
