St Vincent Seeking To Export Medicinal Cannabis Late This Year

The government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines is on quest of exporting medicinal cannabis later this year.

Information about this came from Minister of Finance, Hon. Camillo Gonsalves as he presented the 2020 budget address in parliament on Monday.

Minister Gonsalves stated that last year’s budget, the government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines enacted the necessary legislative framework to establish a well regulated and export-oriented medicinal industry.

The medicinal cannabis authority received 280 license applications to date which include; 25 foreign investors, 7 local investors, 26 local cultivators, 210 traditional cultivators and12 traditional cultivators cooperatives.

The Finance Minister also stated that a total of 70 applications have been approved to date including those of 10 local farmers cooperatives, and 18 regional and international companies.

Ten local farmers’ cooperatives have a membership of over 1 hundred and forty traditional cultivators.

  1. Export to where?

Not to most of the Caribbean most of whose countries have laws against the use of all types of marijuana.

Not to those few Caribbean countries where medicinal marijuana is legal but local producers can easily and more cheaply supply all local needs.

Not outside the Caribbean to countries where marijuana use, in any form, is prohibited, nor to those where medicinal marijuana is allowed but where local producers and governments would never allow outside competition.

  2. S V.G ganja farmers you have been fool and robed and used for the natural herb weed marijuana that is produced here you been sold and brought out in the name of medical cannabis imagine the millions they are making off your hard work you do the hard Labour and they get the profits you just become slave for the rich and mighty all over again yet their system and the government will never decriminalize the weed while they can make billions of dollars never your PM has played the three card trick on you farmers.

    • This is false because the illegal production, sale, and consumption of Vincy weed are all higher than ever.

Lots of local product is also shipped to nearby countries like Barbados, St. Lucia, and Grenada enriching a lot of local producers and traffickers in the process.

What will never get off the ground is the sale of medical marijuana for the reasons I have already stated above.
