The National Democratic Congress of Grenada joins with the rest of the international community in congratulating the Government and People of St Vincent and the Grenadines on their election to non- permanent status on the UN Security Council.
This is indeed a monumental achievement for our Caribbean civilization in that our neighbour with whom we share a common heritage has been elevated to this august body. This development was warmly received by the people of Grenada and certainly by the entire family of nations in the Caribbean and the third world.
This is a clear indication that not-withstanding our size, our respective small island states can attract the confidence of the international community. The trajectory of St Vincent and the Grenadines as a country whose foreign policy is based on the pursuit of peace, respect for the territorial integrity and non -interference in the internal affairs of states is well documented.
We have the utmost confidence that St Vincent and the Grenadines will utilize its new status to promote world peace through dialogue and mutual respect among the nations of our universe.
