Hurricane Center Identifies Tropical Wave Moving Towards The Caribbean

The National Hurricane Center is tracking a tropical wave in the Atlantic Ocean, headed toward the Caribbean.

The wave is 275 miles east of the Windward Islands and continues to produce disorganized showers and thunderstorms while moving at around 15 to 20 mph, said Dave Roberts, a U.S. Navy Hurricane Specialist at the NHC.

Tropical development is not looking likely, as the storm has a 10 percent chance of maturity in the next two to five days, Roberts said.

The wave is likely to face environmental conditions hindering its likeliness of becoming a tropical storm.

If it does develop into a tropical storm, it will be the fourth named storm of 2020 donning the name of “Dolly.”

The wave is expected to produce heavy rains for the Windward Islands later today and through Friday.
