Not only will it become a major strip in Hospitality with hotels and ancillary services, but it is growing as well as a residential center with many exciting developments in the short term.

Finance Minister Camilo Gonsalves said the Black Sands Resort currently employes over a hundred and thirty-five people in construction.

He said the Bank of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines confirmed that there is a plan in place to use two acres of land to build a Financial services center in Peters Hope.

Gonsalves said there will be a NIS office, ATMs and other facilities for banking services and most importantly a police station at the location.

The government will donate the land and the bank of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines will build the facility.

  1. “and most importantly a police station??” Is this some kind of humour? This is not the wild west with Jesse James where you waltz into a bank and take the money. In a modern digital economy, the threat is from cyber criminals, so a police station is just about as useful as a cheque book in a digital economy. Secure offshore banking can be much more lucrative to SVG than tourism, so this is essentially a fantastic idea. The tourism model is a bit dated, there are much more attractive options for developing nations to consider. Saint Vincent needs to think creatively and develop a vision for the Islands based upon technology, education and progressive transformation.
