A number of parents, practitioners and institutions have been recognized for their contribution to the early childhood education sub-sector in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

This came at the Early Childhood Annual Awards ceremony produced by the Ministry of Education, in partnership with the National Association of Early Childhood Educators, which took place at the Frenches House in Kingstown earlier today.

There were five (5) categories of awards:

Parent of the Year

1st Kendra Samuel (Sunny Hill Preschool)

2nd Shanika Brackin (School Sandy Bay Gospel Chapel)

3rd Telisa Olliviere (Stubbs Preschool)

Practitioner of the Year

1st Karen Westfield (Troumaca Govt Early Childhood Centre)

2nd Chermar Pompey (Sunshine Preschool Overland

3rd Cordella Aberdeen (Marriaqua Govt Early Childhood Centre)

Best Practices

1st South Rivers Methodist Early Childhood Centre

2nd Rainbow Unique Preschool

3rd Bequia Anglican Early Childhood Centre

Most Child Friendly School 2018-2019

Stubbs Preschool

The Parent Awards went to the parents who not only care for their children but also other children and are always supportive of the early childhood centre that their children attend. The Best Practices Awards were given to the schools that best adhere to the Early Childhood standards and the Practitioners Awards went to preschool teachers who are dependable, responsible and are able to manage the early childhood centres in the absence of the supervisors.

This is the 4th year that the Early Childhood Department within the Ministry of Education hosted a prize giving ceremony to recognise the contributions of those in early childhood education. Awards and certificates were sponsored by businesses in Kingstown.
