Diplomat Sehon Marshall Summoned To Kingstown

Prime Minister  Gonsalves said the matter involving Diplomat Sehon Marshall was drawn to his attention on Friday afternoon.

Gonsalves said he  Consulted with sir Louis who was informed by the permanent mission in New York.

Sehon Marshall, 43, who serves as a counsellor for the Permanent Mission of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, allegedly decked his wife, Zandra Marshall, 36, after a verbal fight broke out at their Canarsie house at 1:15 a.m last Thursday night, police sources said.

Cops launched an investigation and found that Marshall struck the woman with a closed fist, leaving her with a bloody lip, the sources said.

We decide to discuss the issue over the weekend by talking to all relevant parties.

On Saturday evening I held a conversation with Ambassador Rohanda king, Howie Prince Consul General, and both with Sean and wife separately.

On Sunday I spoke with Sir Louis,  others members of the cabinet and parliament and persons in diaspora whose opinions I value.

We must have a mature understanding of the issues involved when in government you must understand the law and backdrop of the facts.

First, this government takes a strong position against domestic violence, recently we pass a very rigid domestic violence bill.

Secondly, this matter ceases being a private when it was reported to the NYPD. Once they got involved,  it moved from private to State to State relations.

Consequences will follow from those overriding principles and from the facts as we ascertained them.

“Marshall facts are at variance from his wife, but a third individual was present Marshall mother in law”.

Both King in relation to Sean and Prince in relation to Zandra, they were instructed not to report to work.

Marshall was informed by state authorities that he would be summoned forthwith to Kingstown for consultations.

The government is treating the matter with utmost seriousness and looking at all the legal options in the matter.

  1. Marshall’s return will see him once again on his party’s radio shows, running his mouth with impunity and showing absolutely no remorse for his embarrassing actions. Wanna bet?

  2. They need to fire him today, I don’t see why she was further punished by being instructed not to report to work unless it is a form of sick leave.

    • Diplomatic status should not be revoked while he is still in the US. If it’s removed he may be subject to arrest.

  3. There are two sides to every story in a case of Domestic Violence, Mr. Marshall is recalled to Kingstown but, that does not mean he is entirely at fault. Wives can be instigators of physical actions then scream when a husband reacts unexpectedly, in other words, they punch first then start crying.

    • AJ,
Your attitude is symptomatic of the historical problem of domestic violence in St. Vincent. Unless the woman hits the man first and he is defending himself, which is an act of domestic violence, it is never ok or justified in hitting a woman, period. Still, a woman abuser (not the norm though), is just as repugnant as a male abuser; domestic violence in any and all its form is reprehensible and wrong. However, People like you AJ, ought to know that the violence against women, and domestic violence in particular, must stop. But it is attitudes such as yours surrounding this serious problem is why this problem continues to plague St. Vincent. Yes, there are two sides to every story, but do not substitute a lack of information from the other side for your conjecture and justification for abhorrent behavior. Stop it!!

  4. The Onus is on the Prime Minister & the Government to factually demonstrate that Mr. Marshall is not Immune to being
Fired . It is incumbent on the Prime Minister & the Government :

TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND FIRE MR. MARSHALL , THE ONLY

REASON THAT HE WAS NOT ON RIKERS ISLAND IS DUE TO HIS

DIPLOMATIC PASSPORT . THIS MATTER IS A TEST TO THE

GOVERNMENT OF ST.VINCENT & THE GRENADINES TO DEMONSTRATE

THAT SUCH BEHAVIOUR WILL NEVER EVER BE TOLERATED .

  5. First of i am against all forms of domestic violence. For me if i am pushed to the point of punching my other half in the mouth , then to me we don’t belong with each other. your other half should be your comfort and not an aggravator. To be honest people out there seem to be in denial to the fact that woman are becoming more and more aggressive , and I’ve been in situations where am walking away and girlfriend at the time would act very aggressive , that why they became exes .. Fighters belong alone , lovers and peacekeepers deserve companionship
