Cuban Medics Arrive In St Vincent And The Grenadines

On the evening of Thursday 26, March 2020, Prime Minister Dr Hon Ralph Gonsalves, members of cabinet, senior public servants and local representatives of the governments of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Republic of Cuba, met the members of the Cuban medical team sent here to assist this country in our fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

To this date, our country has reported one confirmed case of Covid-19 and we continue to encourage our citizens to practice good hygiene as recommended by the health professionals, and adhere to the guidelines established to protect us. Let’s us contain the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

  1. The PM and the people of SVG need to take this virus seriously. If this virus takes hold in SVG it will be the end of an aging population. All ports of entry should be closed to eliminate the risk of ‘importing’ the virus. And any people that are entering (via special permitted conditions) should undergo mandatory isolation, not self isolation. People need to avoid churches, funerals, and other public gatherings until SVG can confirm for 3 weeks no new cases. And even after then, you have to strongly control ports of entry and not allow travel from other affected nations.

    • Jacobs, its not well done SVG because they have not done anywhere enough to stop the pandemic hitting SVG. In fact the opposite. They have simply been amazingly lucky, but it will not last. Just wait until a week after carnival.

  2. So true. We cannot be ignorant of the fact that it only take one infective case to infect many other lives. We cannot take things for granted and be dark minded of what’s going on around us/the world and keep on allowing things and our everyday lives to be the same. God give us WISDOM we need to used it Especially in times like this. Mr PM now is the time to crack down and close up. ST VINCENT is a Blessed Country, let’s open our eyes and see the hands of God upon us, his Grace and his Mercy towards us, he love us as he also love the world. Let his name be Magnify among us.
