The first Annual Barbados Medical Cannabis Conference concluded today at the Cave Hill Campus, UWI Barbados. The conference was hosted by Cannabis Management Resources in partnership with the Faculty of Medical Sciences UWI, Cave Hill Campus.
This two-day event featured some of the top Cannabis experts from around the world, with the aim of educating and advocating about the benefits and safe use of medical cannabis.
Topics included: pediatrics, applications of medical cannabis, addiction and cannabis therapy, evidence-based medical trials, patient cases, and the policy framework needed to build a modern medical cannabis industry.
Hon. Saboto Caesar, Minister of Agriculture and Industry of St. Vincent and the Grenadines presented on the topic:
Experiences of St. Vincent and the Grenadines- Challenges and opportunities in establishing a modern medical cannabis industry in a small island developing state.
The Hon. Minister in his address explained the importance of international law in framing the national medical cannabis jurisprudence in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Regarding challenges, he highlighted the issues of technology transfer needed for a modern industry and the on-going banking barriers preventing the flow of finance needed to fuel the development of the new industry.
