BREAKING: SVG To Establish Medicinal Cannabis Industry

(By Ernesto Cooke) – St Vincent and the Grenadines seems to be moving to new heights with the establishment of a legal cannabis industry.

News784 was informed that on December 29th, 2017 the Government of SVG convened a meeting with various stakeholders, and successfully established a National Medicinal Cannabis Industry Committee (NMCIC).

The NMCIC is being chaired by Hon. Saboto Caesar, minister of Industry Agriculture & Fisheries and currently comprises representatives from the police, health, education and other government agencies; the business and religious community; the Diaspora among other interest groups.

The Legal framework for all aspects of the legal cannabis industry is being led by consultant Petrona Sealey Browne.

A well-placed source and advocate for the establishment of a legal cannabis industry in SVG told News784; “We are finally moving forward with this process”.

“Yes we are in the early stages but there is a serious commitment to do things the right way. Vincentians at home and across the Diaspora would appreciate the many employment and business opportunities that would be generated by our homegrown legal cannabis industry.”
