RecChanges was created out of Opportunity. My wife, Sophia and I grew up in the Caribbean, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Jamaica.
Growing up in underserved communities and in desperate situations not only taught us how to operate with less but more importantly how to look for opportunity.
When we were given a chance to come to the U.S during our high school years, we learned two things very quickly.
One, that recreation, sports, and play could open more doors, whether it was a scholarship to college or the positive interaction it brought with teammates, friends, and family.
Moreover, Secondly, that relationship was significant. It was through coaches and mentorship that we were able to learn about sports unfamiliar to our home countries.
These sports translated into fully paid college degrees and opportunities that continue to strengthen us today.
When we met for the first time in 2013, we knew our story would continue together, but we also knew we had to create a way for youth and adults to use movement as an avenue to build relationships, experience a healthier lifestyle, and most importantly, find opportunities.
RecChanges is much more than exercise; it is community development through recreation, sports, and play.
