The vigilance of the police at the Grenadines Wharf on Friday, June 29th, 2018 has led to the arrest of 20 years old Britney Williams from the village of Choppins on two separate charges marijuana and cocaine possession.
Williams was on Monday, July 2nd escorted to the Serious Offences Court before Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne charged for having in her possession 1,190gms of marijuana and 13gms of cocaine with intent to supply to another to which entered guilty pleas on both charges.
The Court heard that on the date in question Police who were on duty at the Grenadines Wharf conducting a search on persons travelling to Grenadines Islands when a vehicle was seen with the driver and Williams who was at the time sitting in the front passenger seat with several black plastic bags at her feet.
The Law Enforcement Officer became suspicious and escorted Williams to the main booth where a search was carried out on the bags which resulted in the discovery of the controlled drugs leading to her arrest.
Before imposing the sentence the Chief Magistrate told Williams that the marijuana I quite a large quantity and she has no tolerance for cocaine.
A fine of $1,500.00 was imposed upon her to be paid forthwith for the cocaine in default she faces a 7 months jail sentence.
Williams was given until July 31st this year to pay the fine of $2,500.00 for the marijuana in default she will face an additional 8 months jail sentence.
