Donald Soleyn a former member of the local constabulary who in recent months took up the position as the bailiff at the Magistrates Court and who was suspended from his duty on November 7th, 2017 pending investigations of misappropriation of funds has now been arrested and charged.
He was arrested by officers of the Major Crime Unit on three separate charges of theft of EC$200 in cash being the property of Wayne Peters of Bequia, professional misconduct and having in his possession criminal property between December 31st, 2015 and January 1st, 2017.
Soleyn appeared at the Kingstown Magistrate Courts on Monday, November 13th before Senior Magistrate Bertie Pompey and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The question of bail did not arise due to the fact that he was already given his own bail by his former colleagues.
The matters are expected to come up for trial on January 23rd, 2018.
