CHATEUBALAIR MAN IN GUNS, DRUG AND AMMUNITION RAID GRANTED $60,000 BAIL

Police have arrested and charged Andy Medica, 25 years old Fisherman of Chateaubelair with the offences of Controlled Drugs, Drug Trafficking and Illegal Firearm and Ammunition Possession on 25.02.2020.

Spawning from a joint operation in the Prospect area between the SVG Coast Guard Service and the Narcotics Unit on 23.02.2020, the accused man was met in possession of the following articles and charged with the following offences: (i) for having in his possession three thousand and fourteen (3014) grammes of Cocaine with the intent to supply it to another; (ii) for having in his possession three thousand and fourteen (3014) grammes of Cocaine for the purpose of Drug Trafficking; (iii) for having in his possession one (1) Smith and Wesson .327 Magnum Revolver without a license issued under the Firearms Act; (iv) for having one (1) Glock 17 9 x 19 Pistol without a license issued under the Firearms Act; (v) for having one (1) Glock 17 9 x 19 Pistol without a license issued under the Firearms Act; (vi) for having in his possession six (6) rounds of hollow point .357 magnum ammunition without a license issued under the Firearms Act; (vii) for having twelve (12) rounds of 9mm ammunition without a license issued under the Firearms Act; (viii) and for having twenty (20) rounds of prohibited .223 ammunition without the authority of the minister.

Medica appeared before the Magistrate Court, Kingstown on 26.02.2020 and was not allowed to plea because the charges were laid indictable.

He was granted bail in the sum of EC$60,000.00 with one (1) surety and was ordered to surrender his travel documents.

As a part bail condition he is also expected to report to the Chateaubelair Police Station every Monday and Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The case was adjourned to 03.03.2020 and transferred to the Serious Offences Court for arraignment.
