Bagga Man Sent To Mental Health After Inflicting Cutlass Wound On 45yro

Fifty-six-year-old Lenard Berkley has been arrested and charged by the police for the offence of unlawfully and maliciously wounding forty-five-year-old Darson Browne, both from the central Leeward town of Barrouallie on August 23, 2018.

Berkley is accused of inflicting a single cutlass wound to the neck of Browne at the Barrouallie public road on the said the said mention date, as a result of the injury Browne is presently warded at the Male Surgical Ward at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH) treating the injury.

On Friday, August 24, 2018, the accused was escorted to the Kingstown Magistrate Court before Senior Magistrate Rickie Burnette facing the charge.

It was during such time prosecutor Corleen Samuel made an application to the magistrate to have Berkley sent to the Mental Health Institution (MHI) for evaluation.

This was allowed,  and Berkley when he returns to court on September 14, 2018, will know if he has to stand trial or not.
