31yro man to pay $600 or 3 months in jail

The execution of a search warrant by the Rapid Response Unit and members of the Narcotics Unit led to the arrest of 31-year-old Jerron Alexander for drug possession.

It is reported that during the execution of the warrant at Alexander’s premises in Carapan on Sunday, September 10th, 2017,  two portions of marijuana was discovered in a liquor and provision shop which amounted 413gms.

Alexander was escorted to the Serious Offences Court on Monday before Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne and entered a plea of guilty with legal representation from Senior Counsel Arthur Williams.

In mitigation, Williams told the court that his client was due to leave the state on the same day and while in the shop someone approached him and requested that he hold the bag with the marijuana for someone, it was during such time the law enforcement officers went to the shop and executed the warrant.

Alexander’s attorney requested leniency for his client.  A fine of $600 was imposed to be paid forthwith in default a three months jail will be levied.

Alexander is a Vincentian National but currently, resides in Canada.
