The government has taken the decision to close the VC Bird International Airport to all incoming commercial flights as of midnight on Thursday, March 26, 2020.
The decision was made at the meeting of the cabinet on Wednesday, March 25. Chief of Staff in the Office of the Prime Minister, Ambassador Lionel Hurst tells ABS news the closure will be for a period of 14 days in the first instance.
The media release from the Office of the Prime Minister says airlines which choose to fly empty into Antigua to collect nationals of various countries will be allowed to do so.
