TRINIDAD: Two drown, two survive, two missing

(TRINIDAD EXPRESS) – FISHERMEN, with the help of Coast Guard and Air Guard officers, are searching for two of their colleagues unaccounted for from a fishing trip turned tragic.

Police said that the fishermen left in a boat around midday Sunday off Carli Bay in the Gulf of Paria, and sometime during the afternoon their boat capsized and sank.

Police was told that the boat hit a wave and overturned.

The men that were aboard the fishing vessel were identified as Kumar Lalla, 49 of Calcutta # 2 Freeport, and Glen Prahalad, 34, Sieunarine Dayandass, 50, Denish Mallo, 23, Ronald Narrinesingh, Chunilal Dayanadass, all of Beaucarro Road, Freeport.

Lall and Prahalad swam ashore on Sunday evening and told police of the incident. On Monday two bodies washed ashore at Orange Valley, Freeport.

The bodies are yet to be identified, police said. Acting ASP Pierre, WPC Meharris, PCs Ramoutar and David of Couva police responded.
