(TRINIDAD EXPRESS) – A senior police officer was found dead at his home in Arima on Wednesday. Assistant Superintendent of Police Mark Maharaj was discovered at around 9.30a.m. by his son.
Maharaj was in a bathtub in his bedroom. Paramedics were called but Maharaj could not be revived.
Colleagues said that Maharaj was respected in the police service and feared by criminal suspects. He served in the Northern Division for many years . Maharaj was 48-years-old.
The Commissioner of Police Gary Griffith and the executive of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) extended condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Maharaj.
Maharaj, who had 29 years’ service in the TTPS, was last attached to Criminal Investigations Department/Criminal Records Office.
