TRINIDAD: Man charged with raping two British tourists

(TRINIDAD EXPRESS) – A 34-year old Trinidadian residing in Tobago, is due to appear before the Scarborough Magistrates’ Court on Friday, charged with the kidnapping, robbing and raping two United Kingdom tourists.

Artherly ‘Ratty’ Fraser, of Canaan, was charged with two counts of rape, two counts of grievous sexual assault, two counts of kidnapping and two counts of robbery.

Fraser was charged following a report made by two female tourists to the Shirvan Road Police Station on March 11.

The charges arose from an incident which allegedly occurred at 1:30am on the same date the report was made. The victims, who were participating in festivities at the weekly ‘Sunday School’ event in Buccoo, had hired a private driver to return to the guest house they were staying at in Black Rock. While en route to their destination, the driver stopped along Grafton Beach, and proceeded to rape, sexually assault and rob the women of their cellphones, before escaping in his vehicle.

Fraser was arrested at his home the following day by officers of the Scarborough Criminal Investigations Department.

Charges were laid by WPC Phillip-Radix, of the Shirvan Road Police Station.
