Trinidad: Helicopter crash during search for escapees

A NATIONAL Helicopter Service helicopter made an emergency crash landing in Windy Hill, Arouca a few hours ago while being used to search for the eight escaped prisoners.

The National Security Ministry said that sometime at 1.15 p.m. the Airbus H-135 was hovering over the Windy Hill, Arouca area engaged in the search when it suddenly developed engine trouble.

They said that as a result of, “technical difficulties whilst inflight,” the pilot was forced to make a hard landing.

“Fortunately there were no fatalities and no serious injuries to those on board the helicopter.” There were no injuries reported on the ground either.
