TRINIDAD: Girl stable after 30-foot fall

(TRINIDAD EXPRESS) – Eleven-year-old Rihanna Reid, who is autistic, is in a serious but stable condition at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex after falling 30 feet from a Maloney apartment building where she lives yesterday afternoon.

However, before she came into contact with the concrete below, Rihanna hit an awning which had been erected by her neighbour on the floor directly below her apartment.

This impact, which left an imprint in the awning, is what is believed to have saved the 11-year-old’s life and prevented fatal injuries.

Police said shortly before 3 p.m., Rihanna was at home with her mother, Ermine Celestine, when the mother retired to bed.
