Maracas Bay bloodshed: One dead, three wounded

(TRINIDAD EXPRESS) – One of Trinidad’s most important tourist destinations was the scene of a shootout and killing on Sunday night.

One man was shot to death. Three were wounded. Two police officers were fired on.

The dead man has been identified as 26-year-old Kiedon Williams, of Vincent Brown Lane, Gonzales.

The injured were identified as Dominic Wong, 20, of Eastern Main Road, Wallerfield, Atiba Sheppard, 27, of Waterhole, Cocorite, and Anthony Garraway, 27, of North Coast Road, Maraval.

The bloodshed happened at around in the vicinity of Uncle Sam’s Bar at Maracas Bay.

Two police officers patrolling the area said they heard gunshots and saw two men with guns near the murdered man Kiedon Williams.

The officers said that when they announced their presence, the gunmen pointed the weapons and them and began shooting.

The officers returned fire but the gunmen escaped. People scampered for safety during the volley on gunfire.
