Dominican family of 9 faces expulsion from Martinique

Seven children and their parents Dominicans under threat of eviction. A year after having taken refuge on the island since the passage of hurricane Maria.

All have lived for a year at their grandmother’s house at the Prêcheur. However, the family could not obtain a residence permit and must leave Martinique for Dominica on Thursday (August 16, 2018).
Mayor Marcellin Nadeau, is opposed to this expulsion citing the historical links of the town with its neighbours from Dominica.

“Remedies are still possible but for now, the family must leave Martinique on Thursday”, the report stated.
