“Another Blow” Liat Will Face Competition In St Lucia

Prime Minister, Allen Chastanet, an outspoken critic of the regional airline LIAT, has said that Saint Lucia is undertaking initiatives to open up its skies to introduce competition.

Chastanet told the Times that his administration is in discussion with Seaborne Airlines with the hope of attracting a Puerto Rico flight here.

He also said that Saint Lucia will be in talks with Caribbean Airlines. In July this year,  Chastanet announced that not a dollar from this country is going into LIAT.

Last week, the Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Doctor Ralph Gonsalves, said his country would not give financial support to the regional carrier until it improves its service to Kingstown.
