Three Vincentian Fishermen Missing At Sea
(UPDATE) – St Vincent and the Grenadines Coast Guard, along with regional partners, are carrying out a search and rescue mission around the island for three Vincentian anglers who have been missing since Tuesday 1st June 2021.
News784 was told on Thursday, 3rd June, that the three left the Kingstown Fish Market jetty Tuesday morning (1st June) on a fishing trip, using a 27-foot pirogue, and have not yet returned.
Wilbert Harry, president of the National Fisherfolk Organization, told the island’s only television station SVGTV, that according to information from other anglers, the three went fishing in the waters between St Lucia and St Vincent on the country’s North East coast.
St Vincent Coast Guard officials said they have received reports of the missing fishermen and have requested help from the Regional Security System aircraft for ariel search, the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard.
French authorities in Martinique will also conduct an ariel search.
The fishermen, according to information, hails from various communities around the capital, Kingstown.
Gusty Conditions and thunderstorms are forecast across Saint Vincent and the Grenadines later this evening.
