St Lucia: 61st COVID Death Recorded, 22,357 Get First Vaccine Dose

Press Release:–  The Ministry of Health and Wellness today Wednesday, March 31, 2021, received confirmation from the Ezra Long Laboratory of 7 new cases of COVID-19.

These results are from a batch of 164 samples. The samples were taken on March 29, 2021, and March 30, 2021.

The seven individuals were seen at various community respiratory clinics where they were
assessed and tested for COVID-19.

In keeping with the COVID-19 testing protocol, they were each placed in home quarantine by healthcare practitioners while awaiting the return of their COVID-19 test results.

Arrangements have been made to place these newly diagnosed cases in isolation.

The contact tracing for these new cases is currently underway.

Confirmation was also received of the recovery of 2 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19.

This brings the total number of active cases currently recorded in the country to date to 119.

At present, one of the active cases requires critical care at the Respiratory Hospital.

The new cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in the country to date to 4245.

Today, the Ministry of Health also reports one COVID-19 related death bringing the total
number of deaths in the country to date to 61.

Death #61 is an 88-year-old male from the Vieux Fort district with underlying medical illnesses who passed away while in care.

The Ministry of Health is pleased to announce that as of yesterday March 30, 2021 a total of 22, 357 individuals have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Saint Lucia.
