With 252 new cases between 8 and 14 March 2021, 22 people hospitalized and 70.2 incidence rates (number of people infected over a week per 100,000 inhabitants), it is now official, the Covid-19 epidemic is rising again and exceeds the alert threshold in Martinique.
22 patients are in hospital, 5 of them in resuscitation.
“The resumption of the Covid-19 epidemic and the high level of medical and surgical activities”prompted the University Hospital of Martinique (CHUM) to trigger the white plan (since Thursday, March 11, 2021).
47 deaths have been reported by the CHUM since the beginning of the epidemic (37 from Martinique, 6 from Guadeloupe, 2 from Guyana, 2 from abroad).
Since the first case of English variant was detected in Martinique in January 2021, the Regional Health Agency has been counting more and more cases. According to the ARS, a total of 198 cases of variants have been detected. They account for 30-40% of cases.
In addition, 2 suspected Brazil/South Africa variants were detected between 1 and 7 March 2021.
7260 people received at least one injection of the vaccine.
Since the beginning of the epidemic, a total of 7309 cases of Covid-19 have been recorded.
