A United States (US) based firm on Thursday announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Guyana for the construction of second Hilton branded hotel here.

In late November, it was announced that a US$90M upscale Hilton-branded hotel will be constructed at Houston/McDoom area, East Bank Demerara.

While the exact location of this second Hilton hotel is yet to be confirmed, Managing Partner of Artsunac: Alleyne and Alleyne Business Practitioners, Gavin Alleyne, said the entire project will cost US$100M.

Once construction begins, the project can be completed within 18 months. Alleyne, during a press conference on Thursday, at his office in Subryanville, Georgetown, said the Artsunac firm is still finalising the location with the government.

He said his firm, which he described as a professional business services group, has been in talks with the government over the last three years. While the partners are still deciding to ensure the brand is aligned, Alleyne said the Hilton project would likely see the hotel being given the name ‘Hotel Eldorado’ and will fall under the One Embassy Suites brand.

The hotel will be built some 21 floors high and will provide capacity for some 150 – 200 hotel rooms. There will be 90 executive suites and two ultra-luxury suites, Alleyne said.

He said the hotel aims to employ some 400 – 500 locals. The News Room understands that the government will be providing fiscal incentives for the project to move forward.

Alleyne said he is encouraged by the level of interest in moving the project forward and said his firm intends to represent Guyana at its best.

The Artsunac firm boasts of having a proven record of leadership within fortune 100 companies that extends from Operational Leadership, Audit, Banking & Compliance, Engineering & IT, Marketing & Advertising, Legal & Regulatory Advisory, Healthcare, and Brokerage and Logistics among others.
