"Majority Votes Shows That SVG Prefers An NDP Gov't"

Leader of the Opposition party Dr Godwin Friday in a Facebook post thanked supporters for rallying with the party throughout the difficult election period.

The NDP following the 2020 elections were left with 6 parliamentary seats having lost the North Leeward seat to the ULP.

“By your vote, giving the NDP and me as leader a majority of the votes cast, you made it clear that you want change and that you prefer the NDP to be your government”.

The SVG Electoral Office indicated that of 98,112 registered voters, some 65,595 people voted, giving rise to 65,251 valid votes cast. This indicated a 67 per cent turnout.

The ULP tallied 32,353 votes or 49.58 per cent of valid votes cast. The NDP earned 32,847 votes or 50.33 per cent.

“Thank you for your confidence in me. Know that I am as determined as ever to bring about that change and deliver hope to our people”. Friday said.

He told supporters in the Facebook post to stay positive and committed as ever to our purpose.
