Reports Of Landslides And Electricity Outages Across SVG

A large area of disturbed weather in the vicinity of the Lesser Antilles is associated with a tropical wave and is now crossing the islands including SVG.

News784 have received reports of damages to house roofs in the area of South Windward along with landslides throughout the country.

There have been reports from individuals of heavy wind and rain from different areas including, Mespo, colonarie, and North Leeward.

The state utility company is also reporting outages in Cane Hall, Belair and surrounding communities and Georgetown to Fancy.

During the last 12 hours, rainfall accumulations of approximately 2 inches have been recorded by some stations across the island and there have been reports of flash-flooding.

Due to the saturated nature of the soils, any additional rainfall could lead to additional flooding.

As a result, the Flash-Flood watch which is already in effect for St. Vincent and the Grenadines is now upgraded to a flash-flood warning until 6:00 am Friday 30th, October 2020.
