KHSA To Provide $10,000 In Support To Community

Over 20 persons in the community of Rose Hall who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic will receive food packages, sanitary products, farming material and other assistance from the Kenville Horne Sports Academy this Sunday at the Rose Hall Community Center.

The Kenville Horne Sports Academy is the recipient of a grant from the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust (QCT) The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust is a growing network of young changemakers across the Commonwealth. QCT is a platform where smart ideas and insights are shared, to show that change can be brought about by anyone, anywhere, a place that sparks optimism and inspiration, where more and more people feel motivated and confident to step up and take positive action.

The Trust’s vision is a world where young people are equal partners in driving change. QCT champions, funds and connects young leaders who are working hard to change the world. Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex is the President of the Queens Commonwealth Trust [and Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex is the Vice President. Her Majesty The Queen is the charity’s Patron.

In response to the unfolding situation, The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust (QCT) launched a COVID-19 Response Grants programme to support young leaders who are offering critical services to their communities during this time with the hope of supporting the people and communities that are too often left behind or forgotten in times of crisis.

Kenville Horne the Founder of a sports-based program in the community of Rose Hall is a Queen’s Young Leader. He said that he was informed that the grant was available to persons like him and his organization and he decided to apply.

After a rigorous process to ensure transparency and accountability the Kenville Horne Sports Academy was successful in its bid. “It’s a great feeling to know that you can give back and give to persons who are in need of such assistance. The idea to tackle poverty and in equality,” said Horne,

The donation will amount to close to $10,000.
