Dengue In SVG: 374 Cases, 2 Deaths, Gov’t To Employ 10 Doctors, 6 Nurses

In order to tackle the upsurge of dengue cases being reported at the clinics within the state, the government will employ an additional 10 doctors and 6 nurses.
This was made public by the Minister of Health Luke Browne on Wednesday 23rd September 2020.
St Vincent and the grenadines now have 374 cases and 2 deaths from the disease.
The opening hours for the Kingstown clinic will be changed and operations will go up until 7 pm.
The isolation centre at Argyle built for Covid-19 patients will be adopted and use for those with dengue who require hospitalization.
Minister Brown said the outreach program will continue including the face to face dissemination of information to households, sessions at clinics and elsewhere.
Browne said the Insect Vector Unit is taking an integrated approach to the incidences of dengue within the state.
The unit which is already doing nationwide fogging is placing certain types of fishes in rivers, streams, drains and sewerage system to prevent mosquito breeding.
Browne says he agrees with the sentiments that the vector unit officers should step up there patrols in communities.
