Gonsalves pleads with visitors to abide with quarantine

Following the resumption of American Airlines’ service out of Miami to St.Vincent and news that some people who arrived on that flight had flouted quarantine, Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Ralph Gonsalves is pleading with individuals to adhere to quarantine protocols.

“I’m just asking everyone coming in, listen to the Ministry of Health. The point is this—the authorities don’t want to take you before the court for you to be dealt with by the court if you’re breaking the quarantine, you’re disobeying the Chief Medical Officer. You have to abide by the quarantine please.”

The Prime Minister went on to bring attention to the possible unfavourable scenario that could take place when individuals flout quarantine.

“If the police come for you this morning and pick you up this Sunday morning to take you to the barracks, to hold you there until tomorrow to take you to the court, how would you feel?

St.Vincent and the Grenadines on Sunday recorded 6 new COVID-19 cases, all of which were passengers on the recent American Airlines flight. The number of confirmed cases in SVG now stands at 35 with 29 recoveries, 6 active cases and zero COVID-19 related deaths.
