Protests Burst In Mexico City Over Police Violence

(TELESUR) – An undetermined number of young people in Jalisco have been beaten, imprisoned illegally, and abandoned in distant places.

Mexico City’s protesters Saturday took to the streets to join the wave of demonstrations unleashed over the murder of 30-year-old Giovanni Lopez at hands of Jalisco police.

The protests reached the Jalisco House, the state representation in Mexico’s capital. The U.S. embassy was also surrounded by demonstrators rejecting the murder of George Floyd.

Previously, Jalisco police beat Lopez to death for not wearing his mask while he was walking down a street in Guadalajara city.

Police repression has increased after his death, as an undetermined number of young people in Jalisco have been beaten, imprisoned illegally, and abandoned in distant places.
