CUBA/NORWAY ISSUE JOINT COMMUNIQUÉ ON PEACE IN COLOMBIA

HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 31 (ACN) Below is the full text of the joint communiqué of Cuba and Norway on peace in Colombia, published in the website of Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Republic of Cuba and the Kingdom of Norway, Guarantor Countries of the Conversation Table between the Government of Colombia and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People’s Army (FARC-EP), which concluded with the signing of the Final Agreement for the End of Conflict and the Construction of a Stable and Lasting Peace, ratify their commitment to peace in Colombia and express their deep concern about the resumption of the armed struggle by some members of FARC-EP.

The Guarantor countries support all those who defend the Peace Process in Colombia.

They also confirm the validity of the historic Final Peace Agreement and consider that its effective implementation and strict compliance is the way to preserve peace.

In this context, the protection of the Special Jurisdiction for Peace, which was designed and agreed with the priority objective of guaranteeing truth, justice, reparation and non-repetition, as well as issues related to agrarian reform, the substitution of illicit crops, security and the full reintegration and reincorporation of former FARC-EP combatants into civilian life, in the interest of consolidating the peace process, are particularly relevant.

The Guarantor countries, Cuba and Norway, once again reiterate their willingness to continue supporting and accompanying the efforts to achieve a stable and lasting peace in Colombia.
