Storm Warning For St Lucia Discontinued

(ST LUCIA TIMES) – Local officials are urging citizens to stay indoors until the all clear is given in connection with Tropical Storm Dorian, although a tropical storm warning has been discontinued for the Island.

On his official Facebook page Tuesday, Prime Minister Allen Chastanet  observed that the all clear can only be given by the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO).

On NEMO’s official Facebook page, it was  announced that the tropical storm warning has been discontinued for Saint Lucia.

The notification came in a post from Meteorologist Thomas Auguste of the Saint Lucia Meteorological Services.

“At 8:00 am today the center of Tropical Storm Dorian was located near 14.0 North… 61.2 West or about 15 miles or 25 km west northwest of Saint Lucia,” the  notification said.

It stated that maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph or 85 km/h, with higher gusts.

Slow strengthening is forecast during the next few days, and Dorian could be near hurricane strength when it approaches Puerto Rico on Wednesday, the Facebook post stated.
